The City of Westminster and Coastal Conservation Association aim to raise awareness about the benefits of the eastern oyster and the role they play in restoring our Chesapeake clean water. We intend to honor and celebrate the aquaculture farmers and restaurants who continue to practice and support sustainable seafood harvest while raising funds for CCA and the Carroll County Public School’s efforts towards oyster reef restoration.
The City of Westminster donates a portion of the Oyster Stroll proceeds to Coastal Conservation Association Maryland’s Living Reef Action Campaign. This campaign’s mission is to restore the Chesapeake Bay’s wild oyster population and habitat while educating our students on the importance of environmental stewardship.
The Building Conservation Trust (BCT) was created to provide vital funding for grassroots-driven projects that achieve one or more of five key objectives: Restore degraded habitats; Create new habitats; Advance the science of coastal habitat and marine fisheries conservation; Foster habitat stewardship; and Educate coastal communities on the value of conservation.
